Koskinou village

The old center of the village has become our second home; charming, colourful, authentic and friendly. It lies on a hill, in the north-east of Rhodes Island. Everything in the village is within walking distance. A rental car is recommended to get to all the places and beaches of interest. The airport is about 25 min. away from Koskinou, Rhodes town 10 min. and beaches can be reached within 5 to 10 min.

Beaches

There are several beaches just a short drive away from Koskinou. Some beaches with sand, others with pebbles or rocks. Some quiet ones and some busy ones. There are beaches with water sports, diving schools and beach bars. Most of them have a shower, a restaurant or at least a cantina and above all, crystal clear blue seawater.

sea salt house review

'Our stay at the sea salt was perfect!
We picked the island based on this home and it did not disappoint! Why would you want to stay in a big beach hotel in Greece? Believe me, you don’t!
Experience something unique and interesting! We loved shopping at the local grocery stores, eating at the little cafes and simply walking around the streets of the village. When it’s time to hit the beach, you are a few miles from several great beaches. This is the perfect place for your Greek holiday!'

about us

Hello - nice to meet you!

My Name is Martina and I am the happy mother of Xaver.

We live in Zurich, Switzerland and spend summers in Greece- a summer without Greece is no summer.

I  bought the house in 2014, when Xaver was

a little boy and rebuilt it with love and passion for Greek design. Since then I work on it, because

a home is never finished.

The sea salt house is meant for friends and family, and we love to share it. So- as a guest make sure you act like a friend or a family member. We are looking forward to your visit.

Fisch Pail

Standing early morning on the roof you smell it in the air,

after a sunny day on the beach you feel it on your skin,

and at night with some grilling at home, you taste it in your mouth:

sea salt life!

Sea salted sea bream on the grill

You need one fresh fish per person.

On the old road to Rhodes town, before you enter the city, there is a big outside market on the right side. Across the street there is also a fish shop. The bigger super markets have fresh fish as well.

Clean the fish from the inside. Use a sharp knife scraping of the loose scales. Take a scissor to cut of the four little fins. Wash the fish thoroughly and dry it. Put some garlic and lime inside. Cover the whole skin with fine sea salt.

Put the fish on the grill, 5 min. on each side and 3 min. on the bottom side. Fillet the fish, leave the eatable skin and serve with a dressing of olive oil and lime juice. Add a nice green summer salad, some bread and grilled vegetables.

Grilled vegetables with sea salt

Many vegetables will do well on the grill. But as you are in Greece, try some green asparagus (cultivated in northern Greece), eggplant or zucchini. Once from the grill, add olive oil, rough sea salt and fresh grounded pepper.

Greek yoghurt with grilled fruit and sea salt

Take any stone fruit that you like and that is preferably in season. You can put the fruit on the grill when the heat has lowered (after you have grilled the fish) or you can cut the fruit in pieces, add olive oil, honey and sea salt. Put it in the stove for 30 min.

When you take the fruit from the grill, cut it into smaller pieces, add some olive oil, honey and sea salt and put it on top of your Greek yoghurt.
